( Lesson 8 ) Set an Achievable Deadline for Your Goal

If you don’t want to have a deadline for your major goal…. stop the goal setting right here, close your computer, get some lemonade and quit. Yep, quit. Because a goal without a deadline is a dream. Ever meet someone who’s been talking about doing the same thing for years. Each year, they get not a step closer to the goal, but they are always talking about it.

Without a deadline, you are that person.

Goals with deadlines, strong deadlines, deadlines with consequences, are usually the type of goals that get accomplished.

To make your goal achievable and get it accomplished on time, here are some things that you must do.

Use embarrassment to your advantage. If you’d be mortified for not reaching your goal, put it out there. Let’ folks know the launch date on Facebook. Let your family know. Let your audience know in advance to pre-register ( this is my #1 personal way to get things done)

Get an serious accountability partner or coach. Schedule a call with your accountability partner EVERY MORNING. Yes, everyday, that’s why I said to pick a serious one. Or get yourself a pretty ambitious business coach who simply won’t let you fail. I know of a good one  ( here )

Make sure that you do the exercise in email 6 breakdown so that you can know exactly what you need to work on. This makes it SUPER easy when you have an unplanned 10, 20 or 30 minutes in your day- you can get a goal to do done and keep taking steps towards this goal being complete.

Remember This….

Without a deadline, this goal won’t be achieved and I won’t make my financial goals

Without a deadline, I am ignoring my BIG why’s and what they could mean to my life

Without a deadline, I will in the same place in the next 12 months as I was in the previous 12 months

Action Plan

  1. Go back to your Major Goal Breakdown Worksheet and review your deadlines. Are they achievable? Are they too soft and give you too much room?
  2. List your deadline for each of your #1, 2, 3 & 4 goals.
  3. { Get Ambitious } Share this deadline with someone who will hold you accountable.
  4. Share this deadline with your social media channels.
  5. Share this deadline with me, tag me, and use hashtag #gsprocourse
